World Football Rankings – Top 100

August 2010 – Fresh from the World Cup Finals, the world rankings has also adjusted according to teams performance during the month long tournament where the World’s Top Ten Football Teams are:-

  1. Spain 
  2. Netherlands 
  3. Brazil 
  4. Germany 
  5. Argentina 
  6. Uruguay 
  7. England 
  8. Portugal 
  9. Egypt 
  10. Chile 

Winners Spain is now at the pinnacle of the world rankings, followed by losing finalist, Netherlands. Former world number one, Brazil dropped two places to 3rd position while Germany moved up to 4th. Uruguay, the surprise semi-finalist made the most ground by advancing ten places to 6th position behind Argentina at 5th position.  England surprisingly moved up one notch to 7th due to the collapse of heavyweight Italy down to 11th and Portugal which dropped behind England at 8th. Egypt which did not participate in the World Cup moved up 3 places up to 9th position due to the drop in the ranks of USA and Greece. Chile’s fine performance moved it up to number ten in the top 10 ranking in the world.

For the top 100 teams in the world, South America can boast of a 100% record where all their ten teams are in the top 100. Europe dominates the listing with 44 teams out a total of 51 teams or a 86% representation. Africa has thirteen teams in the top 100 followed by Asia with ten teams, North & Central America with four teams and finally two teams from Oceania.
