The Amazing Race Asia 2 – Finale

The Amazing Race Asia 2 finally came to an end after 14 weeks of racing through 10 countries on 3 continents. It was a race of overwhelming favourites Marc & Rovilson against the underdogs, Adrian & Collin and an all girls team, Pamela & Vanessa.

Teams started racing with Marc & Rovilson in the lead leaving the Aquila Game Reserve at 5.09 a.m. to get to the District 6 Museum. Adrian & Collin followed suit about 10 minutes later while Pamela & Vanessa started at 5.34 a.m. The three teams were separated only by 25 minutes between the first and the third team.

Marc & Rovilson arrived first at the District 6 Museum and needed to find out some street names in order to use it to key it into a notebook for the next task. They completed the task ahead of the rest and proceed to the Victoria and Albert Waterfront where they choose “Search”, a task to look for three pebbles in the midst of thousands of pebbles. They changed their minds when they saw the pile of pebbles and took up the other challenge of “Sound” where they need to assemble an African Wire Art Radio. Pamela & Vanessa immediately chose to assemble an African Wire Art Radio while Adrian & Collin chose to look for pebbles.

The next task was to proceed to FC Kapstadt and score 3 goals from free kicks in a football (soccer) practice session. It was amusing to watch how the Filipinos and the Singaporeans kicked the soccer ball.

I was utterly shocked with their lack of body coordination. At least the Malaysian girls did better.

Next, teams had to go Quad Biking in the Atlantis Dune. Marc & Rovilson tried to pull their conning stunts again on Adrian & Collin but Adrian & Collin proved to be wiser. Pamela & Vanessa were behind and were racing at their own pace.

Next teams had to go to Cape Point and find out where is their final destination. Marc & Rovilson started walking up the hill while Adrian & Collin took the train up the hill. Marc & Rovilson realised their mistake and had to double back for the train. By then Adrian & Collin had overtaken them and completed the task.

Teams now had to fly to Singapore and complete the race. Adrian & Collin arrived first at the airport ahead of Marc & Rovilson. Both teams bottle necked at the airport where Pamela & Vanessa managed to catch up.

Touching down Singapore, teams had to race to the Raffles Statue for the next clue. From the Raffles Statue, teams have to proceed Sentosa Island for a Road Block.

Marc & Rovilson arrived first and Rovilson chose to take up the challenge lining up the flags of the countries which they had visited in the correct order.

Rovilson just couldn’t get it right and soon Pamela & Vanessa caught up. Vanessa took up the challenge and was also wrong in her first couple of attempts. Finally, Adrian & Collin arrived where Adrian took up the challenge.

Adrian did it right the first time and managed to jump from third placing to first place. Their next task was to race to the finish line at the Chinese Garden. Vanessa was probably inspired by Adrian and she completed the task immediately after. Rovilson was still stuck with the flags.

Adrian & Collin raced to the finish line to win the Amazing Race Asia 2 and won US$ 100,000 in the process. Pamela & Vanessa finished second and their joy in finishing the race was exhilarating. They looked more like the first team than Adrian & Collin.

The favourites of the season, Marc & Rovilson came in third.

HURRAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! Adrian & Collin won….. underdogs rock! In all fairness, Marc & Rovilson raced exceptionally well throughout, making it look like a one horse race! But, that’s reality TV, you’ll never know what’s in store until the very end. If its any consolation, M & R manage to garner quite a lot of goodies & $ from their 1st placings …………. As for Pam & Van, such a hilarious duo…you are right! They looked so ecstatic that if you just caught them running to the finish line, you’d think that THEY were the winners…ahahahaah. Congratulations S’pore, M’sia & Phils!

I am happy for Adrian & Collin but I was really hoping for Pam & Van to win.

Marc & Rovilson were fantastic and I think they would be great chums to be with in parties. But they just clowned too much for my liking in the race. I am glad that they didn’t win.
