The Resignation of the Health Minister

It is only 3 days into the new year but I already have my candidate for the Malaysian of the Year in Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek. His decision to resign as the Health Minister and all other polical post which incuded Labis MP, MCA vice president, Johor MCA state liaison chairman and Batu Pahat division chief, should be hailed as the first correct thing that any of our local politicians has done in a long while.

I was truly impressed with his immediate acknowledgement of being the man involved in the DVD containing sex scenes of him which was distributed in Johor recently. I was skeptical when he initially announced that he will not be resigning. By resigning 24 hours later, he has done the right thing as a leader of the people and I hope (but I doubt) that future politicians would use Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek as a yardstick while in public service. As a public figure, you have to be accountable for your actions.

Well Done Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek. I will vote for you if you run in the next elections.

Odd that a man is congratulated & hailed as noble even when in essence he’s admitted to a philandering exploit….. Hmmm…. so it is possible to right a wrong then! Does this mean that it gives everyone a license to stray a little now and again & proceed to make it right by admitting it…? Interesting….!

Well, I am applauding him only for his decision to do the right thing. The deed is much amplified by the fact our politicians has been doing crap things since we could remember and finally someone is doing what should be done. If our politicians have all been squeaky clean then the judgement would have been totally different.

As for his fling with the woman, he has wronged his wife and his family. It has nothing to do with me and I won’t pass judgement on him.

  3. shorthorse says:

Well… if the world of politics viewed his fling as personal then he wouldn’t be ‘encouraged’ to resign. Obviously, a person’s personal acts and deeds serve to be a beacon for your integrity be it to family or nation, no?

  4. asme says:

Yes it certain should be and he should resign for his actions.

But I applaud him for resigning (doing the right thing) instead of being forcibly removed.
