Nightmare Month For The Devils

February 2008 is turning out to be a nightmare month for the Red Devils. After a 6 matches winning streak in January, the Red Devils needed a Carlos Tervez last minute goal to salvage one point at White Hart Lane on 2nd February in their 1:1 draw with Tottenham Hotspurs.

The stage was set for Manchester United to shine on February 10. It was a match which marked the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster. It was also a chance to avenge a loss to their local rivals, Manchester City in their earlier meeting of the season. But Sven Erikson’s boys had other ideas.  Within 45 minutes, they were 2:0 up with goals coming from Darius Vassal and Benjani Mwaruwari. Manchester United failed to match Manchester City. Only a late goal by Michael Carrick kept the score line respectable.

It was the first time since 1970, that Manchester City managed to win both league matches and the first time since 1974 that Manchester City won at Old Trafford.

It has indeed been a nightmare for Sir Alex.

Can Manchester United turn it around? I fear for them as the road ahead for the rest of the month looked difficult with Arsenal visiting them on 16th February, followed by a Channel crossing to France to face Lyon on 20th February and finally a match with Newcastle United on 23rd February at St James’ Park.

Come on Ronaldo, we need your magic.
